About Schiavone Datakonsult
Schiavone Datakonsult is a single-man business: me, Craig Schiavone. After many years work in industry, I took time off with the birth of my two children to help raise them for a time. After they were old enough for day-care, I decided to return to work as a consultant instead of a full-time employee because I wanted to have more control over what I do and how I work. This consulting business has been active since the middle of 2005.
A bit about my background: I am 35 years old and have been working in computers since the late 80s. I started as a hobbyist with programming in Basic on the Apple ][, and worked my way forward to Fortran on Macintosh and PC systems. For the longest time I was a big Apple fan, but during my years studying Computer Science at UC Santa Cruz I learned Unix, C, and among other things learned to lose my interest in religious issues and now have an appreciation of most of the OSes on the market today. I've lived many places in my life, but for the most part I consider myself Californian. I grew up in Ridgecrest, California, and from there went to college in the earlier 90s in the town of Santa Cruz. The place was so cool I had to move there to live after college, and stayed there about 10 years, learning to boogie-board and mountain-bike. In 1996, I met a Swedish girl and in 1999 we married and moved to Stockholm, Sweden where we live today with our two children.
During the past five years I've spent my time working, raising my children, and learning Swedish.
